Happy 5th of July to all those hungover from the forth.

What did you all do on the 4th?

I personally went to a beach with friends. It had nothing to do with celebrating the forth since I am Canadian, I nonetheless brought my US Flag Towel. Naturally I had to hit on the hot lifeguard with the most pathetic, now, infamous line "Do you only work on your tan here or do you actually do something like save life sometimes". Funny thing is that it worked, she started to chat, too bad im not single. WHERE ARE YOU ADAM???

As I do not live in Colonies, I do not celebrate the 4th of July. However, for those who are interested: yesterday I was hiking in the Scottish highlands, near Cairngorms National Park.

Spent time with most of my family and enjoyed the local fire works.

As I do live in one of the Colonies, I found myself flying back and forth between states most of the day simply because a week and a half ago I uttered the infamous words "I'd rather see something other than D.C.'s fireworks this year. Or New York's for that matter," to a friend of mine. Everything was enjoyable of course, minus the plane ride back home at practically midnight.

Why do you celebrate it?

Like most holidays they start off with a meaning in this case. The USA establishing its independence from Brittan. However like most holidays its not commercialized into a reason to go party and drink bear so we remember those who gave there lifes and enjoy the company of our families and day off from work. Oh and drink beer lol

However like most holidays its not commercialized into a reason to go party and drink bear so we remember those who gave there lifes and enjoy the company of our families and day off from work. Oh and drink beer lol

The British Empire was not so glorious from say 1779 to 1783. It is well known that King George III never truly accepted the lost of the colonies. And did NOT want to acknowledge the independence of the newly formed United States.

Fortunately for great Britain the United States were much more forgiving when it came to WW1 and WW2. I must admit that the Revolutionary war had a large impact on how GB treated its colonies afterwards, especially Canada for which I am grateful. If I may permit myself a personal opinion: the empire arrogance is responsible for the lost of the colonies, the trading limitation imposed on the colonies are what led them to revolt. These terms were the doing of the Parliament. Had they listened to the valid demands of the unrepresented colonists, history might have unfolded quite differently.
