Godzilla has risen...yet AGAIN!

Yep, I saw it today with my work and suffice to say, the older version was still better. The new one was okay, despite being a reboot, although I think the main aspect of Godzilla could of focused on him and not everything else.

If you're a big fan of Godzilla? I'd recommend it. If you're just a typical person who likes seeing monsters destroying cities in CGI? Then I'd give it a miss until it comes out. Cloverfield monster was bigger than the new Godzilla.


I'd give it 8 and half /10

My first thought was "when did Artful make a movie about himself?"

Then I remembered they remade the movie from a while ago

The trailer sported the monster at the very end, it should have done something for me but didn't. It was as if a buildup was leading to the monster and when we got there, it fizzled out. The monster itself looked awkward. No gravitas.

The trailer didn't sell it for me so i'll skip and wait for the release.

Uh oh, I just saw some friends posting bad things about it on facebook.... things like "Godzillas not the star....12mins on screen....que'ing up pacific rim when I get home" type shit. If its like that, no need to waste my time really.....

I would pay again to go see Pacific Rim because it was more awesome than Godzilla. Despite the CGI scenes in both films.

Good to know, I was planning on going to see it but I'll think I'll try something else instead. I rather liked the older movie. It was good for the time.

Hey I just watched this new version, I like it a lot.... they did not fuck this up and as for
the people I saw post bad things on facebook, they were totally wrong. He has a decent
amount of screen time for the story they told. I was quite entertained!

Here are a few elements I hated :

1. Apart from Gozilla, two other ‘thousand years old radiation creatures’ one female and the other male are part of the movie. Godzilla’s job is to stop them from reproducing. To reproduce they need radiation so they strike a nuclear plant, nuclear submarines, etc… to feed on the radiation. These creatures as ‘defense mechanisms’ create an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) which neutralize all technology. This is just fucking stupid, from an evolutionary stand point, why the fuck would any thousands years old species develop EMP technology – would have been completely useless at the time. But it does help creating impressive CGI effects with military jets falling from the sky and so on. But it’s BS because military jets are EMP harden. They are designed to withstand EMP’s. At the end of the movie, the ‘all-american hero’ takes a fishing boat to escape with a nuke. So yeah, 4 billion dollars military jet crashes because of a EMP but the crappy fishing boat is just fine. That’s just stupid and has no basis in science/reality.

2. Our ‘Hero’ is (of course) an US Army Lieutenant with a cute/beautiful and scared family…. Here you can just add every bad Hollywood clichés. The only good parts of the movies are those with Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and he dies pretty early. He’s the scientist who predicted it all and could actually have helped, but no. Let’s use his friendly douchebag of a son instead as the hero.

3. They try to make Gozialla into a ‘good’ monster. The US navy ships sails in formation with him, etc, etc, etc. There is a classic fight scene at the end when he almost dies but manages to finish up the two monsters with a little help from the humans then a fucking building crashes into him and he dies then you see all the media headlines with the title ‘Godzilla Savior of our City’ what a fucking pathetic story line.

4. Add to this the whole radiation eating to get stronger thing. At least in the first movie you could understand, the radiation caused mutations and made the lizard much, much bigger. It made ‘almost’ scientific sense. But now, all the monsters are part of an almost extinguished species who used to live on Earth back when there was lots of radiation, as it disappeared they hid away. Now that they are back they need sources of radiation to reproduce and shit. But nukes, nuclear submarines, these things are SHIELDED. The humans live beside these things, the radiation is inside and controlled and it emits almost no radiation. It’s not as if it blew up and there was lots of radiation around. Then I could understand them detecting it and bring drawn to it. But at one point a monster literally eats the reactor of a nuclear submarine. WTF.

5. The first thing that just got me to dislike to movie was a bridge to a ‘forbidden city’ that had suffered a nuclear accident with it’s nuclear power plant. The fucking bridge has abandoned cars all over it, the bridge had not been maintained in over a decade, yet every fucking bridge light works just fine. Wtf, you change the lights but won’t tow the cars on it. This movie is just a joke, nothing was thought through. One of the worst movie I have ever seen period.

Ouch you pretty much disintegrated the film.... you really hated it.... I guess you like your fantasy a little closer to reality.
