Building the Enterprise

Post by Bailo »

I don't normally read newspapers, but today i'm glad i did. I came across this nice little article and felt i must share it with you all. Please try to ignore the few mistakes in it (such as Kirk's Enterprise was a Galaxy class starship) i think it was written by a reporter who was trying to pretend he knew something about the subject but interesting nonetheless.

Very ambitious, unfortunately it cannot be achieved as of yet.

Whoever wrote that article needs to be burned alive at the stake for calling the Constitution class a Galaxy. It's ambitious, and probably too ambitious.

Interesting and very ambitious, but what kind of engines would it have, if its just gonna orbit the earth then they shouldn't bother. But I think we can all agree that this is definitely not gonna happen which is too bad.
Thank you,

If this was to happen it would be amazing. And I think if they were to get enough people involved it could be done - the problem is it's doubtful they'll succeed in getting enough people.

Its intersting though, how primitive our space technology still is.
But at our current rate of development our computer technology and systems will most likely far exceed anything Star Trek has shown us by the time we get to the 23rd century. :ugeek:

I wouldn't be too sure if I were you. After all, in the 1930's they expected that everyone would fly a helicopter to work. That hasn't worked out either.

Except on very many fronts our computer technology is already on par with Star Trek, and has even exceeded in some areas.

It can be built, the question is can it be funded. That is the only hold back i see and projects always run over expected costs this would probably be closer to 3 Trillion dollars.
