*Star Citizen is a crowd funded game which is still accepting donations in the form of Pledges, Concept/Ships sales etc. As such, the particular item you're purchasing for thousands of dollars does not represent the actual value of that item at launch. All sales are to generate additional funding in order to expand the development and any item you purchase may not be available right away.

It's gone too far. This is not real life.

600 dollars is just too much for one ship. The same is going on with the expansions of STO. Ask 120 euro's for the extra ships.

The Delta Rising Operations pack is a pre-release bundle that they offer so people in a hurry to secure their ships pay up front. However, the ships will individually be sold in the C-store at launch. As was the same with Legacy of Romulus.

There is no obligation to buy the pack. It is for the impatient and the foolish. Everything goes into the store, it's a profit maximization strategy.

Star Citizen is just ridiculous though. Exorbitant costs for ships that can be lost. I do not play games to insure things that do not actually exist.

They're just using the same strategy you pointed out to Trip.
Ships bought now can be manufactured in the Persistent Universe once released.

Someone actually bought the full complete ships on Star Citizen for $15,000! That is absolutely stupid. Then again, someone bought over a quarter of a million in game package or something. That is shocking!
