Well Halo's humans always were seriously inferior from a technological standpoint.
I mean pretty much all Human weapons are projectile based, which the navigational deflector would just shrug off.(seeing as it is supposed to deflect and vaporize small particles and debris when accelerating to warp speed.)

true for small particles and slow moving big ones. so yes for their rockets and ship board machine guns but I think a MAC round would get through. It was the only weapon that could penetrate a covenant shield in as single hit.
