Re: Patrick Stewart does the ice bucket challenge
The thorny question of water, ice and whisky. Should you add water, can you add water, should you add ice, etc. I would suggest, just enjoy your whisky as you choose; if you like to drink it straight, then by all means, if you like to add water or ice, all the same. However, for appreciating whisky - which is something different from pure enjoyment - you should rather add water. Water in whisky acts like rain on dry ground; it releases aroma's, it agitates the molecules. How much water depends on your own preference. On the other hand, ice closes down the aroma's due to its temperature.Jesse wrote:Chivas Regal, Ice.

The only whisky I have experimented varying the water/ice content with is Johnnie Walker Black. While it does not add much to the flavour, it does make it last a little longer, which is a good thing when trying to enjoy the bottle. I suspect single malts respond better to a splash of water than their blended counterparts.

Yes, water dilutes it a bit, but it brings out different flavours. Originally blended whisky was made for the English and the continent, because they couldn't handle the intense flavour of the single mats like the Scots could.
Johnnie Walker is shit anyway.

Johnnie Walker Black is fucking glorious. Sure be insubordinate. Hack the website. Steal our copyright. Slander the fitfulness of the founders or leaders of this Fleet. But do not ever insult Johnnie Walker Black. I will smack you so hard your ancestors will feel it. Those there hurtful comments of yours are fightin' words!
