Since when have 'professional gamers' been intelligent? From what I've seen of them they speak with a level of intellect similar to that of a donkey with a javelin shoved up its nostril.

The most intelligent man in the universe will fail to beat the best gamer. It doesn't require intellect, it requires playing video games all day every day.

There is a huge difference betwen games and games.
FPS game don't require that much brain power granted, its mostly about reflexes.
Real good RTS titles however are more advanced than chess and put considerable demands on cognitive abilities.

Apparently you have not played chess against a professional chess player; otherwise you would not write such utter bullshit and actually believe it.

Chess ftw!

One almost wonders why you are even in a Star Trek "gaming" fleet.
No where did I say that I have a problem with people enjoying an occasional gaming experience, whether it be Angry Birds or Call of Duty, with friends; my problem lies with people who play video games 24/7 and believe that playing such games could ever be a professional sport.

Can you honestly show me one so called "gamer" who isn't some foul smelling, socially inept, pathetic excuse for a human being? I'll even award a bonus cookie if you can show me a so called "professional gamer."

It doesn't matter if it's an RTS, FPS or any other 3 letter acronym for genre - it's a video game. There will always be a real-life alternative which requires a higher level of intelligence, reaction time, planning, co-ordination and whatever else.

Video games are an entertainment medium. You can't be a professional film watcher, or a professional book reader - so how the F can one be considered a professional gamer?

There is no game that even remotely compares to grandmaster chess level. Garry Kasparov would have your head for such a statement.

I'm a professional film watcher, I go to the cinema and don't blink throughout the movie.
