Browser

Post by Shroombuck »

Many of you are computer enthusiasts and also very versed in technical and software related subjects. Today I reinstalled my computer and this obviously includes a web browser. I am currently using IE8, but when I logon to our glorious forums, all text and images are centred.

1. Is there any way to solve this annoying centred-text?
2. What is the fastest and safest web browser (IE8, Firefox, Chrome)?

Thanks.

1. I don't know, having not used IE since 1999. Google should be able to help with this.
2. There is always going to be arguments about the "best" browser to use. But different browser have different benefits. I personally use Firefox and recommend it to anyone. But Chrome has won in this Table: http://internet-browser-review.toptenreviews.com/ and I'm sure a lot of people would recommend it. At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference. This picture may help you decide.

Firefox is fantastic if you don't put too many addons on.

I prefer Chrome. Firefox requires tweaking to be optimised and fuck that.

I use Chrome on both laptops (loaded with oodles of RAM so it doesn't struggle) and Firefox on my more limited Desktop with loads of addons (I do some web development so the addons are for that). I use XMarks to synchronise my bookmarks and badassery to manage the switch between.

For absolute security, Firefox is the best available browser. There are add-ons you can download which will allow you to choose which websites get access to what information. This is particularly useful if you don't much like the idea of sites like Google recording everything you do onto their servers.

Also, Chrome seems to be getting a little unstable nowadays. Is this just me?
