What Federation Command stands for

Post by Picard »

Greetings fellow members of the Star Trek gaming community.

Introduction

I write this statement of purpose in an attempt to enlighten those who may not know FC, its officers and what sets us apart from other gaming organizations.

Federation Command upholds the values of Star Trek. Professionalism, mutual respect and equal opportunity are only a few of the ideals we cherish.

Our officer core is composed of people from all around the world, with different cultures and philosophies, however on these forums as FC officers we always manage to find a common ground; the appreciation for Star Trek gaming.

Leadership

One of the main things that truly separate this fleet from others is the sheer amount of experience our veterans have. Fleet Admiral Jesse, Admiral TParis and I have each been part of the Star Trek gaming community for 12 years. Many other veterans in FC have been playing Star Trek games for over 10 years. Jesse and I are both co-founders of two of the most successful Star Trek fleets to ever exist. This gives us the knowledge and experience to ensure that all members of FC are able to enjoy the gaming community to its fullest.

As a successful Star Trek Fleet with a legacy that pre-dates the release of the most popular Trek games we have certain responsibilities to the community. One of those responsibilities is to make sure that the rules that most fleets followed back in 2002 are still being respected today by newer organizations.

Foreign Policy

To foreign diplomats: please note that once you have read this and believe you share our view of diplomacy we would be very interested in having friendly relations with your clan.

Star Trek gaming diplomacy is a key area in which fleets have, over the years, mismanaged their operations. And it is in our choice of diplomacy that FC truly differentiates itself from other gaming organizations. And because of this we have made strong friends but also enemies who would stop at nothing to discredit our group.

The purpose of Diplomatic Relations in a Star Trek Fleet is to bring fleets closer together in a spirit of friendly competition. Over the years certain organizations lost sight of the “gaming” obligation part of Diplomacy. As a matter of fact, many fleets today concentrate on “role-playing” and give more importance to their forums and diplomacy than they do to compete in games.

Among the respectable trek fleets of old war was not seen as something bad, in fact in many Star Trek games, fleets were able to wage war against one another in mutual respect and would often become allies because they would had learned to respect one another on the battlefield. Today, the sad reality is that many Star Trek fleets out there are just talk when it comes to diplomacy and have no respect for the code of honour. They have lost sight of the reality they are in, which is a gaming community.

We pride ourselves in maintaining a relationship based on mutual respect with every organization who respects this code of honour. Federation Command has won many wars but also lost a war once in the SFC3 battle arena; we knew it was a lost war from the start for we were playing against very skilled opponents and our force was relatively new in SFC3 at the time. We nonetheless accepted to go to war, and fought a hard but fun and professional war. There were no reason for this enemy fleet to declare war on us, they wanted to test us. We stood tall and respected the code of honour. We later grew to be a mighty force in SFC3. This is the kind of courage FC is made of.

Before choosing to join a fleet, keep this in mind. Would you rather be in a fleet that is more dedicated to forum activity than it is to gaming activity? Could you really be proud to serve in a fleet that has no honour, a fleet that declines to fight, that chooses to refuse a declaration of war because of some obscure reasons, when in fact it is because they know they can’t win?

This is a gaming community; the main goal of the games we play is to destroy the enemy.

Federation Command values skills over post count, gaming over role-playing. Honour over cowardice.

Welcome to Federation Command Space. Defending the Federation since 2002.
Thank you,

Hallelujah, brother!
Rest in pieces, Lady B. Stockholm's second fastest Mercedes. (1984-2012) Every time I outrun an Iraqi in his wannabe BMW M5, I'll think of you.
